I ordered two books and one of them arrived, slightly damaged....
Very disappointing...
This book is more than just a catchy title. Michael Murray has a clear grasp of A Course in Miracles, not just in terms of what the Course says but also from an even larger perspective. He has personally experienced countless out of body experiences, as well as near-death experiences and trips to Heaven, which has provided a wealth of perspective and an awareness of a much large scheme than our confined earthly experiences.
Experience is a far more powerful educator than to just understand metaphysical concepts intellectually, and this wealth of insight and personal experience really comes through in Michael's book. And it is refreshing. And in fact, for me, it has somewhat unlocked me from the 'closed box' that is prevalent throughout the Course community, which tends to reject anything that isn't explicitly or obviously described in the Course itself and can be somewhat blind to mystical experiences.
My personal background prior to the Course included experiences with aliens, consciousness, ascension, ascended masters, angels, the astral plane/4th dimension, channeling departed souls and higher beings, and it was difficult to make this 'fit into' what is usually regarded as the scope of the Course. The Course does mention angels a few times (mighty companions etc), but you can tell among most Course students that few have had any real experiences of background beyond what the Course has itself spoken of. I found myself constantly questioning what I'd experienced and wondering how it could possibly fit in, with loose ends all over the place, which resulted in a lot of sacrifice and confusion. Michael Murray has really given me permission to embrace these things because they ARE a part of what's happening on higher levels of reality. This doesn't in any way go against the Course or its message, but in fact helps me to understand where these experiences fit WITHIN the whole picture, which is inclusive of the Course.
Another huge leap comes from Michael's clear definitions of the 'levels' of awareness, the fact that there are multiple levels of awakening corresponding to the multiple levels of mind, and that clearly there are teachers on different 'levels' with different messages. Most of us are stuck on 'level 1' bouncing around trying to make sense of the Course, not realizing we basically need to get out of level 1 into level 2 - the Holy Spirit - which Michael has radically given much clarity to. It makes so much sense and really helps me to see where it all fits together and the mistakes I was making. It seemed so obvious to me that there ARE higher levels of mind/dimensions and I knew this from personal experience, so I couldn't discount it just because most Course folks are not aware of this. And also there are Course people who claim various levels of "awakening", but there was always this discord about how awakening is like an absolute single goal which you either are or are not, versus the fact that we actually need to wake up to the "next level" in order to progress up to the highest level. This makes so much more sense in the way that Michael has revealed it, and it also reveals to me, as he said it would, where different teachers are coming from and why many of them still 'fall short' in not being able to demonstrate the 'abilities' that perhaps are available only from higher levels of awareness. I always refer back to Jesus' example as my "go to" teacher and have known that apparently NO-ONE has demonstrated the same level of 'christ-consciousness' that he did, and this always made me feel confused about who was experiencing what and why. Michael has perfectly clarified this entire situation and brought a great amount of RELIEF in doing so.
Michael also talks about personality types, which although not exactly explicitly mentioned in the Course still correlate to course concepts such as the ego persona and our repressed shadow side. When I read about how different types of people have different basic personalities, like the more 'open-minded' versus 'closed-minded', regardless of whether one is more apt to be spiritual than another, it really helped me practically overnight to see many people in my life with much more compassion, respect, and allowing. One of my long-term struggles was assuming that everyone should be as open-minded as I am and trying to get them to see things my way, which is not helpful. Now that I recognize some people just have a 'type' of personality that sees the world very differently - not better or worse necessarily - it really helped me to feel relief and clarity, especially about how I've been trying to impose my 'type' onto them. This immediately helped me relationships at work and also in other areas.
I think also one of the big benefits of Michael's book is his description of various practices and requirements that you need in order to get up to the next level of awakening - level 2, and beyond. ... various forms of forgiveness, various tools for empowerment, and also taking a good hard look at the ego's defenses so that we know what we're working with. He talks clearly about what works and what doesn't, and what kind of deceptions belong to the ego's level and how we need to move up to the Holy Spirit's level to correct them. Then at the end of the book, after the awesome chapter about ascension that I really resonated with, he gives an overall summary of that whole 'program' and the steps we need to take. This makes the Course much more accessible and easy to APPLY - which is really one of the areas that most Course students find it the most difficult - i.e. what do I actually need to DO in order to get myself up to the next level and wake up. It's not so much that this is Michael's formula, or that there are other formulas, but that this is simply the structure of 'the dream' and the dynamics that take place in and how things are set up. Michael is shining a light on all of this and showing the way Home!
If you want some kind of advanced tour of intricate metaphysical technicalities then this isn't the book. Instead, Michael has made the Course clear and simple and accessible, which is perhaps far more valuable. The book has broad appeal, perhaps even broader than simply for A Course in Miracles students, and this is one if its strongest approaches - it gives a bigger-picture context within which the Course is a part and helps you to realize some of the 'missing parts' which the Course didn't explicitly cover, and yet which really help to understand what's going on. Michael also has included various charts and diagrams which help you to grasp the concepts and how it all relates.
Overall, you can really tell that Michael is speaking from personal experience and a tremendous amount of spiritual and mystical awareness, which I have found to be much more informative and transformative than the kind of lower-level fluff that comes from a wide variety of other "teachers" who are mostly all, themselves, still struggling to wake up to the next level. With so many sources of confusion and delusion and misunderstanding out there, if there is one go-to source that you want to find that you can really follow and trust is telling you the whole truth, then it would be Michael Murray's teachings in this book. I feel also that Michael knows a lot more than he has even written here, and that more will be forthcoming in future. I'm looking forward to it.

This is the most clear explanation of ACIM I have ever read, even beyond Disappearance of the Universe. A lot of the mystery has been removed, and, whew, it's about time.
